Mission Statement
The mission of TaTanka Educational MultiMedia, Inc. 501c3 (non-profit) is to create documentary programs
in the areas of social justice, social and intercultural awareness, natural history, history and science. It is our desire to produce documentary programs that inspire, educate and enlighten the viewer.
ABOUT US...
Documentary producers, Tom and Sabrina Karges established TaTanka Educational MultiMedia, Inc. in 2001 and it was granted non profit status (501c3) in January 2003. Tom and Sabrina have traveled the world during their combined 45 years of experience in the film and video industry. In fact Tom has worked lived and traveled in more than 55 countries and Sabrina in more than 25 countries.
They are very passionate about their craft as documentary filmmakers, with that burning desire and curiosity to learn more about the world we live in. Their programs have appeared on HDNet (World Report), ABC News (Night Line, 20/20, Prime Time Live), PBS News Hour, CBS News (60 minutes) as well as the BBC, Algerian Television, Al Jazeera English, RAI (Italian Television), Canal 1 (French Television), and in museums in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.
Tom and Sabrina Karges have presented seminars and formal presentations on the production of their documentary "Ghost Herds of the Wichitas" at the Jackson Hole International Wildlife Film Festival, Jackson, Wyoming. Doc Utah International Film Festival in St. George, Utah and the Castle Rock Film Festival in Colorado.
Their documentaries have won numerous awards on the international festival circuit.:
“Iraqi Athletes: A Test of Endurance" (a social awareness program) recently won the top award, the Platinum Remi, for investigative documentaries, at the Houston (Texas) Worldfest International Film Festival against 54 other entries. “Ghost Herds of the Wichitas" TaTanka's natural history documentary won the Gold Remi Award in the TV Pilot Category at the Houston Worldfest International Film Festival against 45 entries.
Two of their social awareness documentaries, “Iraqi Athletes: A Test of Endurance" and "Beyond the Burka" were selected for showings at the New York International Film Festival (see Other Documentaries tab).
